What's up Cloverdale?

There's been a lot going on these past 2 weeks. What have you been up to?

Did you attend the Rod & Gun Show, the Garden & Bulb presentation, the Cloverdale Kids Swapmeet or the Vaisakhi Parade over the weekend? Please share your opinions and experiences. These events may come up next year too and it would be great to hear what you liked, what you didn't, any tips for those planning to attend next year, that sort of thing. This site is meant to be about sharing ideas and experiences in our neighbourhood. I encourage you to send in emails about what is important to you in our community or comment where possible on what you see on this site.

I attended the Vimy Ridge Remembrance ceremony last week at the Cloverdale Cenetaph. It was the first held here and was organized by the 2277 Seaforth Highlander Cadet Corp and the Cloverdale Legion. Bright and sunny but with a cold wind, more than 100 cadets from the army, navy and air corps participated in the ceremony and then marched through Cloverdale town centre to the Legion where they had an opportunity to speak with veterans and enjoy a light lunch. It was a touching and well organized ceremony which I hope we will see grow in attendance next year.

This week is "Clean Sweep Week" in Surrey. I encourage you to look for additional opportunities to pick up litter as you are out and about in the neighbourhood. When we show pride in our neighbourhoods and keep them clean, others are more likely to do the same. Fittingly, Clean Sweep Week ends with "Party for the Planet" in the plaza in front of City Hall and City Centre Library. Head on down with the whole family next Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm.
